*This role is remote with travel requirements 50% of the time. Ideal candidate's homebase is in our northeastern region*

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Vision & Thought Leadership

  • Provides strategic direction and manages regional leadership for corporate and distinguished partners, community development, communications and marketing operations
  • Drives execution of development strategies throughout the region
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of a regional strategic plan, aligned with the Society’s established priorities and outcomes
  • Advances the relationships with corporate leaders, major donors, volunteers, and key influencers to achieve mission and revenue goals
  • Drives integration across the pillars for the region
  • Serves on Development Pillar Leadership Team
  • Partners with Development product leaders to create the enterprise revenue strategy
  • Provides strategic support and guidance for a broad range of fundraising activities, including Relay for Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Distinguished Events, CEOs Against Cancer, Coaches vs. Cancer, Major Gifts and other community events within the region
  • Provides strategic support to ACS CAN efforts within the region; drives constituent engagement through the regional strategic plan

  • Builds a team and culture that results in a highly engaged and successful region team
  • Develops, empowers, and manages the team of staff executives responsible for operations and execution of the region’s strategic plan
  • Models and fosters behavior that establishes a culture that values the staff/volunteer partnership, and is consistent with the values, goals, and objectives of the Society to create an
  • atmosphere of trust, cooperation, accountability, empowerment, and dedication to the mission
  • Ensures that regional staff and volunteers reflect the diversity of the communities served by the region and creates and reinforces an environment of inclusion.

Constituent Engagement & Revenue Generation

  • Responsible for leading and contributing to the region’s multi-million-dollar revenue targets
  • Provides strategic direction and manages regional leadership for corporate & distinguished partners, community development, communications and marketing and operations.
  • Advances relationships with corporate leaders, major donors and key influencers to achieve mission and revenue goals
  • Manages key volunteer and donor relationships, and recruits volunteer leaders who can contribute to the success of the Society
  • Enhances the Society’s ability to accomplish its mission and maintains a positive presence through the development of effective relationships with business, civic, political, and professional leaders within the region.
  • Ensures an effective volunteer structure is established; works closely with regional volunteer leadership to ensure utilization to its full potential to maximize cancer control, advocacy, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and other key efforts

Financial and Operational Management

  • Accountable for all financial and operational performance in assigned region with $100M+ annual goal at minimum and 150-250 staff
  • Develops and executes multi-year plans and manages regional budget in line with the Society’s priorities and program of work.
  • Manages expenditures and progress against plan and takes appropriate measures to meet top line and bottom-line goals ensuring a high ROI in meeting mission and revenue targets
  • Ensures controllership and compliance with legal requirements and ACS policies and procedures in partnership with People and Legal teams
  • Provides leadership for additional enterprise-wide role(s) as assigned with responsibility for achieving identified goals and outcomes

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ten years of executive leadership experience with multi-million-dollar organization in the non-profit or for-profit sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • Non-profit or healthcare industry experience preferred
  • Experience in successful fundraising and managing high level donor relationships or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience successfully managing and monitoring profits and loss for a multi-million dollar budget and taking appropriate measures to meet targets
  • Proven ability to build effective teams, drive high engagement, and strong culture

  • Proven strategic planner with a sustained track record of development of corporate strategies and business practices and demonstrated ability to develop collaborative arrangements and strategic partnerships
  • Proven communications skills to successfully serve as chief spokesperson and representative of the region; ability to serve as the region’s key conduit between and among regional volunteer leadership staff and volunteers
  • Demonstrated ability to influence multiple stakeholders through written and oral communication
  • Understanding of sales methodology and culture
  • Expertise in developing productive external relationships; socially astute, assertive and competent in negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Proven skills in developing cohesive teams; ability to manage conflict and encourage collaboration for the good of the organization
  • Demonstrated track record for fostering the volunteer/staff partnership
  • History of developing talent; positive results with respect to employee engagement and a productive, inclusive work environment
  • Proven success in managing a culturally and functionally diverse workforce at a senior management level
  • Demonstrated success in attracting and retaining top level talent
  • Ability to build consensus and work through others achieving desired results and objectives
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in relationship building, mediation, negotiation, resolution and presentation

The starting rate is $295,000 to $315,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
