Senior Scientific Director, Epidemiology Research

Lead an independent research portfolio for women’s cancers including but not limited to research related to genomics, metabolomics, tissue molecular heterogeneity, and risk factors for breast and other reproductive track cancers. This position will also include serving as a scientific leader for the establishment of the VOICES of Black Women cohort study and contributor or the Cancer Prevention Study-3 team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead or contribute to epidemiologic studies of female reproductive cancer risk and survival.
  • Lead or contribute to other epidemiologic studies using data from the Cancer Prevention Studies in key organizational priority areas.
  • Serve as the co-lead providing scientific oversight and management of recruitment efforts for the VOICES of Black Women cohort study, with established expertise in Black women’s health.
  • Contribute to the communications and translation of population science through various channels including, but not limited to communications and marketing, major gifts, corporate relations, guidelines development, patient delivery, programs and services, and the media/public.
  • Serve as a liaison to external collaborations and partnerships in relevant areas of research.
  • Provide methodologic expertise.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE:      

  • PhD in Epidemiology with a minimum of 10 years of post-doctoral experience.

SKILLS, SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE:       

  • Deep knowledge of epidemiologic methods
  • Understanding of cohort study management and operations
  • Experience with health equity research, particularly as it relates to Black women
  • Ability to communicate well with scientific and lay audiences

The starting rate is $160,000 to $180,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
