Managing Director, Brand - Remote

The Managing Director, Brand is responsible for defining, managing, and marketing our brand to ensure a compelling, consistent, and high-impact presence. This leader will oversee brand strategy, brand management, and brand marketing—driving how our brand is positioned, protected, and promoted to maximize awareness, engagement, and business growth. 

This role requires a strategic and data-driven thinker who can translate insights into brand strategies that differentiate and strengthen our market position. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with deep expertise in brand development, integrated marketing, and creative excellence. This person must have experience leveraging market research and brand tracking studies to inform brand decisions and measure performance. 

The Managing Director, Brand will lead a team of brand strategists and marketers, ensuring alignment with company goals while fostering a culture of innovation, teamwork, and growth.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


The job duties of this position are fluid and evolving, but generally encompass the following primary responsibilities:

Lead & Develop a High-Performing, Future-Ready Team

  • Hire, manage, develop, mentor, and inspire a team of directors and/or marketing strategists using a high degree of autonomy, ensuring they are equipped with the latest skills, tools, and growth mindsets to operate in today’s dynamic market.
  • Provide regular feedback to direct reports and complete performance reviews.
  • Responsible for understanding and carrying out the organization’s strategic plan through the function of marketing strategy.

Brand Strategy & Positioning

  • Develop and evolve the company’s brand strategy, including positioning, messaging, voice, architecture, and visual identity.
  • Leverage market research and brand tracking studies to ensure brand strategies are insight-driven, aligned with audience needs and are growth is validated over time.
  • Partner with Legal to define and proactively oversee trademark strategies to maintain brand integrity and mitigate risks.
  • Effectively manage external agency partnership(s).

Brand Management

  • Establish, enforce, and evolve brand guidelines to ensure consistency across touchpoints, both internally and externally.
  • Oversee Brand Central, our brand resource platform, and Canva, our customization tool, including but not limited to digital asset management and creative taxonomy.
  • Oversee the development of brand resources, templates, and tools that enable self-service through our brand technologies and create consistency across touchpoints.
  • Develop and implement partnership brand guidelines, including defining equitable rights and benefits for the brand, to protect and amplify the brand.
  • Develop and execute brand training and consultation services for internal teams and agency partners on brand standards and best practices to drive alignment and adoption.

Brand Marketing

  • Oversee the development of enterprise-wide brand campaigns, KPIs and roadmaps to drive awareness, engagement and ultimately, revenue growth.
  • Oversee the development and distribution of brand advertising and public service announcements to reinforce brand positioning and enhance visibility.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Performance Marketing, Creative, Development, Communications and Digital Product to integrate brand initiatives across channels.

Entertainment Marketing

  • Responsible for developing and executing an entertainment marketing strategy, KPIs and roadmap, ensuring alignment with the overall brand and business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to bring entertainment-driven campaigns to life. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive brand storytelling.
  • Identify, evaluate & secure strategic relationships in alignment with the strategy. Develop and execute cultivation and stewardship strategies.
  • Effectively manage external agency partnership(s).


FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field (MBA preferred) with 10 years successful experience in marketing in a medium-to-large size organization
  • 5 years of people leadership experience

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • Proven success in driving brand growth, governance, and measurable impact
  • Strong data-driven mindset, with expertise in leveraging market research, brand tracking, and performance analytics.
  • Exceptional communication, storytelling, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Passion for mentoring and talent development, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives, building rapport and consent among diverse groups and influencing individuals without direct supervision. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with a win-win mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience to influence individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.
  • An effective, versatile, action-oriented individual with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in software including exceptional skills Microsoft Office suite

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Requires travel by air or car when necessary.

The starting rate is $140,000 to $160,000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
