ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Creates and produces emotionally compelling video content that supports the organization’s mission, marketing, fundraising, and advocacy priorities—from concept through final delivery. (35%)
- Leads pre-production and on-site production efforts, including creative planning, scripting, interview preparation, and direction of shoots to ensure powerful, human-centered storytelling. (25%)
- Edits long- and short-form video content using Adobe Premiere Pro and related tools, ensuring a cohesive narrative, strong pacing, and alignment with brand tone and audience goals. (20%)
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand objectives, define creative direction, and manage timelines and expectations for each project. (10%)
- Incorporates motion graphics, music, voiceover, and sound design to enhance video content, either directly or by collaborating with motion designers and audio specialists. (5%)
- Maintains organized media and post-production workflows, adhering to legal and brand guidelines and ensuring long-term usability of project files. (5%)
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Communications, Journalism, Multimedia, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional video production experience with a focus on documentary-style storytelling, editing, and content creation for digital and broadcast platforms.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end production processes, including scripting, interviewing, directing on set, and editing.
- Demonstrated expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience working in a mission-driven or nonprofit environment is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with inclusive storytelling and DEI best practices.
- Familiarity with emerging AI video tools (e.g., auto-captioning, script generators, content summarizers, or editing assistants) and an understanding of how to thoughtfully integrate them into a human-centered creative process.
- Drone or photography experience a plus.
- Ability to direct talent, including patients, families, researchers, and executives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling principles, including narrative structure, pacing, and emotional tone.
- Proficiency in non-linear video editing, specifically with Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, and Audition.
- Demonstrated ability to lead production from concept through delivery, including scripting, interview direction, and creative oversight.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments, guide interview subjects, and interpret stakeholder feedback.
- Working knowledge of brand and content accessibility standards, including captioning and inclusive storytelling practices.
- Ability to apply editorial judgment and make strategic decisions about content priorities and tone.
- Familiarity with AI-supported tools and workflows (e.g., automated transcription, captioning, rough cut generation, or content tagging) and their integration into the creative process.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel as needed, including occasional evenings or weekends for on-location shoots or events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends and some overnights.
- Attends work on a consistent, continual, and punctual basis.
The starting rate is $81,000 to $96,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
