Business Intelligence Analyst

The Business Intelligence Analyst, IT, Support Center partners with leaders across the organization to discover requirements, build KPI-driven dashboards and analyses, and enable data-informed decision making. The Business Intelligence Analyst develops and maintains BI assets (reports, datasets, and semantic models), provides ad hoc analysis, and trains business users on data exploration tools (primarily Power BI). The Business Intelligence Analyst delivers trusted, timely insights that help the enterprise make data-driven decisions; increase self-service adoption; and provide clear storytelling that connects data to outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates with business stakeholders to define KPIs and analytics requirements; translates needs into report specifications and user stories.
  • Designs, builds, and iterates Power BI dashboards and paginated/ad hoc reports; ensures accessibility, usability, and performance.
  • Writes and optimizes SQL to source, shape, and validate data; partners with data analyst to align models and optimize queries.
  • Provides training and support to business users to enhance self-service analytics skills and data literacy; maintains documentation for data definitions and report usage.
  • Ensures comprehensive records of requirements, implemented solutions, and processes are kept, and adheres to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout all phases of the analytics lifecycle.
  • Performs data profiling and quality checks; partners with governance teams to document lineage and remediate issues.
  • Manages intake and delivery through standard work management practices (e.g., Azure DevOps), providing status and meeting SLAs/OLAs.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Associate Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Informatics, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree; advanced degree or relevant graduate coursework preferred.
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Certifications in relevant platforms are a plus (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Azure, SQL Server, Business Objects or Tableau).
  • Years of experience: 3+ years of BI/analytics experience including KPI definition, dashboard design, and stakeholder engagement.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Proficiency with BI tools (Power BI required; Business Objects/Tableau/Looker a plus); strong data visualization and storytelling skills.
  • Solid SQL and familiarity with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and Salesforce, NetSuite experience are preferred.
  • Understanding of BI semantic modeling (e.g., star schema) and performance tuning.
  • Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences; strong customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with work management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps or Jira).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Occasional travel- 10-15% - may be required for department or program/project meetings, vendor management, or enterprise workshops.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent sitting and use of computer equipment.
  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Availability and ability to work after hours, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed, to be on call and/or to fulfill job responsibilities and requirements.

The starting rate is $71,000 to $81,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
