Sr. Payroll Administrator

The Senior Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large, geographically dispersed employee population in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as a subject matter expert for daily payroll operations, provides guidance to the Payroll Administrator, and serves as the primary backup to the Payroll Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll in a multi-state environment for both exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and deadlines. 65%

  • Assists the Payroll Manager with payroll system configuration updates, tax adjustments, and corrections to support accurate payroll processing. 10%

  • Identifies and support the implementation of process improvements to payroll operations and workflows. 10%

  • Responds to employee inquiries and resolves payroll-related issues in a timely manner and with exceptional customer service. 10%

  • Supports quarter-end and year-end payroll activities, including reconciliation, report distribution, and W-2 processing. 5%

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Associate Degree

  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Certificate(s) or License(s): CPP designation and accounting experience preferred.

  • Years of experience: 5+ years experience in a multi-state payroll environment; 3+ years experience with Workday preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Advanced knowledge of federal & state payroll laws.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment.

The starting rate is $63,300 to $73,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
