Based in Washington, DC with offices throughout the country, ACS CAN works to encourage elected officials and candidates to make cancer a top national priority.

The Survivor Views survey research project advances our mission by ensuring that the views and experiences of cancer patients and survivors are reflected in our advocacy. Web-based surveys are conducted approximately six times per year among ACS CAN’s cohort of cancer patients and survivors. The Survivor Views fellow will assist the project manager in tasks related to panel management, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

This fellowship is appropriate for a graduate student or early-career professional and the schedule will be flexible for the right candidate, with an anticipated 25 to 37.5 hours per week. The fellowship commitment is planned for April-December 2024 with the possibility of continuing next year.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support project manager in panel management, survey design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Prepare survey data for analysis in SPSS: data cleaning, merging datasets, recoding variables, conducting appropriate diagnostics and making adjustments
  • Compile aggregated data and run cross tabulations
  • Assist in developing final reports such as creating charts and graphs
  • Assist in panel management tasks such as tracking recruitment and participation performance, maintaining unsubscribe lists, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Strong interest and demonstrated experience in quantitative research methodologies, data management, and analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as organizational/project management skills
  • Familiarity with SPSS preferred

The starting rate is $15 to $18 per hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
