The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the nation's leading cancer advocacy organization. Together with our charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, we work in Congress, state legislatures and local jurisdictions to support evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.
This is a hybrid internship. Full time students from all US geographies will be considered. Our 2025 Summer internship program is an 8-week Paid Internship that runs from June 2nd – July 25th, at 37.5 hours weekly. The program will join interns across the country who are supporting different department focuses on American Cancer Society and ACS's Cancer Action Network. 80% of the time will be in working within the given department, with the Intern's manager, their mentor, and the team. The other 20% will be with a cohort of other interns around American Cancer Society and ACS CAN.As an intern for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network Office of the President (OOP), you will have the opportunity to gain valuable insight into nonprofit leadership, project management, and communication strategies at the highest levels of our organization. You will be involved in a variety of critical projects, working alongside senior leadership and other internal departments to ensure effective internal and external communications, content development, and organizational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Provide logistical and administrative support as needed, including tracking deadlines for key projects and taking meeting minutes.
- Assist with coordinating events, meetings, or briefings for senior leadership as required.
- Assist in the creation and design of professional, high-quality presentations and draft correspondences for diverse audiences, including staff, board members, and Senior Leadership Teams.
- Work with team members to ensure content is clear, visually engaging, and aligned with organizational brand and priorities.
- Help refine messaging to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with the organization’s goals.
- Help organize and streamline digital assets within the OOP, including the management of shared folders, project documentation, and internal communications.
- Ensure files and digital tools are easily accessible and well-maintained, supporting smoother collaboration across teams.
Position Requirements:
- Must be available for entirety of 8-week program:June 2 – July 25, 2025, at 37.5 hours per week.
- Full-time student, if you are an undergraduate student, you have completed your freshman year of college.
- Have a minimum of a B average (cumulative 3.0 on 4.0 scale).
- Plan to continue your education in the following term/semester.

- Note: an internship assignment may coincide with your last term/trimester as a full-time student, but the internship must be disengaged upon graduation.
The rate for this position is $17.50/hour. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
